Police at the Incheon Airport said Friday that they have stepped up security in light of the series of bomb threats targeting over a dozen flights in Europe.
Officials said there had been no threat of terrorism, but they are staying vigilant by monitoring overseas cases and maintaining security protocols.
"We are on constant guard all year, regardless of bomb threats targeting planes, for the safety of the passengers," an official of the airport police was quoted as saying.
Airport police are trained to respond to all emergencies within five minutes.
Multiple flights in Europe have been subject to bomb scares in recent days, prompting searches and diversions. Although no hazardous or suspicious materials have been found, the threats have disrupted flights and inconvenienced passengers across the continent.
It is not yet certain whether the threats are linked or who is behind them.
